Attributes exist within the context of entities. Hence their precise semantics are controlled by the scope of the entity. Notwithstanding, to achieve some level of data semantics standardization, all attributes should inherit their "base" semantics from a Data Element. Following from that, an attribute is the semantic base for columns in tables of one or more Implemented Database Schemas. These, in turn are the basis for the semantics of DBMS columns in one or more DBMS Schemas.
