Import SQL DDL (Importing)

An Operational Database Model consists of "data" that is stored in a DBMS Schema, DBMS Tables, DBMS Columns, and Keys. This data can be entered into the Metabase System through the processes described earlier, or can be "manufactured" by the Operational  Database Model process, Import SQL DDL The process to accomplish the importing the SQL DDL includes:

  • Start the Operational Data Model Metabase System Module
  • Select the DBMS
  • Enter User Name and Password
  • Select the Menu Item, DBMS Schema and DBMS Tables, then the subordinate item, SQL DDL, and finally the Import process
    • Press the Insert button
    • Create a new DBMS Schema
    • Enter a Description
  • Select the SQL DDL File
  • Check Y[es] for the log file
  • Press the Clear button to ensure that any existing log records are removed.
  • Press the Import Button
  • At the end, the DBMS Tables will be shown in the DBMS Table browse along with a DBMS Columns browse
