Create Data Element Concepts

A Data Element Concept is the joining of a Concept and a Conceptual Value Domain. A Data Element Concept thus represents the set of concepts that support a collection of Data Elements. The nature of the Data Element Concept is bounded by its two semantic "parents," Concept and Conceptual Value Domain. A Data Element Concept is accomplished by:

  • Start the Data Element Metabase System Module
  • Select the DBMS
  • Enter User Name and Password
  • Select the Menu Item, Data Element Concepts then subordinate Data Element Concept
  • Select the appropriate Concept Structure Type
  • Select the appropriate Concept
  • Select the appropriate Conceptual Value Domain Structure Type
  • Select the appropriate Conceptual Value Domain
  • Press the Insert button
  • Identify and enter Data Element Concept information
  • Press the Reset button for name generation
  • Enter local definition for Data Element Concept
  • Press the AutoDef button for definition generation
  • Select the subordinate menu item Conceptual Value Domain Structures
    • Insert a new Conceptual Value Domain Structure
  • Select the subordinate menu item Conceptual Value Domain Structure Type
    • Insert a new Conceptual Value Domain Structure Type
