III. DBMS and/or Repository Selection and Evaluation Workshops (5 days each)

The three workshops associated with DBMS and/or repository selection and evaluation deal with solicitation document preparation, evaluation team formation and education, and vendor responses evaluation.

1. Solicitation Document Preparation

The solicitation document preparation workshop concentrates on the review and modification of the existing Whitemarsh DBMS/repository selection document. It contains three parts: glossary, DBMS/repository questions, and application description. The participants in this workshop are the project manager, key business experts, and database knowledgeable data processing personnel.

2. Evaluation Team Formation

The evaluation team formation workshop concentrates on teaching the solicitation document to the evaluation team members. Each section is reviewed in detail, and modifications are made until consensus is reached. While a point score and evaluation strategy is suggested and reviewed, Whitemarsh asserts that the final determination of scoring is a private matter to the selecting agency. The participants in this workshop are the project manager, key business experts, and database knowledgeable data processing personnel.

3. Vendor Responses Evaluation

The vendor responses evaluation concentrates on providing assistance during the evaluation phase of a DBMS/repository procurement. Whitemarsh's role is help resolve ambiguities, identify unclear points, create additional vendor questions and the like. Whitemarsh prefers not to be involved in detailed scoring as the final selection of the DBMS/repository should be a private matter to the selecting agency. The participants in this workshop are the project manager, key business experts, and database knowledgeable data processing personnel.
